Religious reconstructionism

Religious reconstructionism is a method of religious practise based on restoring, reviving, and/or reconstructing ancient pagan/polytheist religious practises.

This is sometimes interpreted as meaning full cultural integration, and often assumed to include some degree of "ancient thought". Some practitioners understand the method of religious reconstruction to be a means of answering the question "If this religion survived to the modern day, how would it look?"

Many practitioners of this method of religious practise feel integrating modern ideals and concepts to be perfectly appropriate to keep the ancient religions alive, vibrant, and meaningful to modern people. It is guessed that very few adherents of any reconstructed religion seek to restore the ancient culture exactly as it was, but thorough surveys of "recon" populations are, for all practical purposes, non-existent and this guess is made based on activity observed in on-line communities.

Some applying the recon method to their practises will only apply it to a large percentage and then include more "mainstream" NeoPagan practises, and thus refer to the whole of their practises as "semi-recon".
