The Mouseia is a festival held every five years in honour of the Mousai. The festival was initially held in The Valley of the Mousai, near Thespiae[1], which attracted musicians and poets from all over Hellas to compete in games and contests.Later in antiquity, it became known as the Great Kaisareia.[2] when the games became sponsored by the Emperor of Rome, and honouring the Emperor took precedent over the Mousai

[edit] New Cycle

A new Mouseia cycle was started by Ruadhan J McElroy with the creation of the New Boeotian Calendar. The new festival cycle began with the Gregorian 2010 calendar year, spanning from August 18-27 (Panamos / Πάναμος 9-18). The new festival is nine days long (one for each Mousa). A cyber agon for hymns to the Mousai and to Hermes will be held, with the winning poems formally dedicating the Hellenistai Wiki to the Mousai and Hermes.

The next Mouseia will be in 2015CE
